Game On: Reporter TV Kicks Off Malayalam’s First Sports-Only Channel!

Reporter TV has launched the first dedicated sports channel in Malayalam, marking a new chapter for sports enthusiasts in Kerala. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Reporter Studio Complex in Kochi, with Indian football legend I.M. Vijayan officially launching the channel. Kerala State Sports Council President U. Sharafali was the chief guest for the event. The channel’s promo was also released during the event.

The function was held on 30th July 4 PM. Shafiq Thamarassery, Senior News Editor of the Reporter Digital Division, delivered the welcome address, and Anto Augustine, Managing Director and Managing Editor of Reporter TV, gave the keynote speech. Minister for Sports V. Abdurahiman sent his congratulations via a video message, expressing confidence that this new sports initiative would be a source of excitement for Malayalis across the globe.

The inauguration followed the speeches. In his address, I.M. Vijayan praised Reporter TV’s bold move, stating that the channel was filling a major gap in Malayalam media by launching a dedicated sports channel. He humorously added that bringing in football legend Lionel Messi would take Reporter TV to the next level.

U. Sharafali expressed happiness that Reporter TV, already a frontrunner among media houses, was now taking a strong step toward promoting sports. Sanju Samson, beloved cricketer of Malayalis, also sent his best wishes and said he was excited that Kerala now has a complete sports channel.

Also present at the ceremony were Reporter Broadcasting Chairman Roji Augustine, Vice Chairman Josukutty Augustine, Vice President Rajeev T.V., and other members of the editorial team, all of whom extended their support and wishes for the new venture.
